For over 800 years, the Carmelite friars have responded to God’s call in Britain and worldwide, and have provided a significant response to the needs of an ever-changing world. The Order seeks the face of the living God not only in prayer and fraternity, but also in service. The National Shrine of Saint Jude is one part of the Carmelite service to God and His people in the British Province. Since 1955, the shrine here in Faversham has been a centre of devotion to Saint Jude in the United Kingdom.
Through the contributions of those devoted to Saint Jude, we have supported the presence and ministries of the Carmelite Friars in Great Britain. In addition, the Carmelite Charitable Trust has been able to support Carmelite Missions in the developing world. In 2019/2020, with your help and continued support, the Carmelite Charitable Trust will continue to support communities in Colombia, East Timor and Kenya. In addition, we will respond to humanitarian crises: earlier this year, Cyclone Idai made landfall in central Mozambique, near Beira City, Sofala Province, leaving almost 90 percent of the city submerged in flood water. We were able to donate £10,000 immediately to help those most in need.
Please remember us when you pray. May God, who is never outdone in generosity, through the intercession of Saint Jude, bless you for your kindness.
