Today is Palm Sunday, which commemorates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1–9), when palm branches were placed in his path, before his arrest on Holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday. It thus marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent.
Why not read the Liturgy for today from home (view here)? In particular (and as suggested by the Bishops Conference), if there are a few of you in your household you can split the passion up into the four parts given below, or three parts with all of you doing the ‘crowd’ voice together, or if there are two of you one could narrate and the other do all the other parts. Read here.
Let us pray..
Almighty ever-living God,
who as an example of humility for the human race to follow
caused our Saviour to take flesh and submit to the Cross,
graciously grant that we may heed his lesson of patient suffering
and so merit a share in his Resurrection.
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
