Happy Feast Day of Saint Peter and Saint Paul - fellow apostles to Saint Jude.
Saint Peter was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, and the first leader of the early Church. According to Christian tradition, Peter was crucified in Rome under Emperor Nero. He is traditionally counted as the first Pope. The ancient Christian churches all venerate Peter as a major saint and as the founder of the Church of Antioch and the Diocese of Rome. In Matthew 16:18 Jesus promised Peter a special position in the Church.
Saint Paul was an apostle who taught the Gospel of Christ to the first-century world. Paul is generally considered one of the most important figures of the Apostolic Age and from the mid-30s to the mid-50s AD he founded several Christian communities in Asia Minor and Europe. He was martyred in Rome after his appeal to the Emperor failed.
